I walked outside on Saturday morning and it smelled like summer.
Like sun warmed pavement, and honeysuckle, and fresh cut grass.
Our weekend was a happy blur of lazy brunches and long walks.
Of views from the pier and easy meals and so so much sun.
The pretty weather tends to keep me out of the kitchen but little quinoa patties + greens + a poached egg seems just perfect for summer. Heidi Swanson kind of knocked me over with these. In. Love. The batter will keep for a couple days in the fridge so you can fry them up as you go. I didn't change a thing about this recipe so you can find it H E R E on Whole Living. Or better yet, buy Super Natural Every Day, turn to page 121, and get to work!

oh these look amazing- especially with the egg on top!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The egg was a perfect addition :)
DeleteThese do sound good, wonder if I could make them without the egg. They look fantastic in your photos too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzi! You can definitely get away without the egg on top-we ate ours the next day with a side of hot sauce. Unfortunately there are eggs in the batter which pretty much hold the little pattie together.
DeleteI love Heidi, and all of her recipes. But, yes, this one is a gem! I've made her quinoa patties before and looooove them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is that your dog?! So damn cute!
Oh me too :) And nope, sweet little lucy is our friends dog, but I just love her so much! One day we'll have our own...
DeleteI'm so glad you posted the picture of you in the dress because I was wondering where your legs went in the first picture ... Great recipe, by the way ... I just couldn't stop searching for the rest of you :-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha!I'm a whole person, don't worry :)
DeletePerfect summer meal, indeed! Boxers are one of my favorite dog breeds - that face is irresistible. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanne! We're debating between boxer and lab. Lucy is our friends dog and we just love her so much- she's a total cuddle bug!
DeleteYour photos are always so beautiful! Such a cute dog! I love big dogs, my mom has a big chocolate lab and he is the sweetest thing in the world! Your quinoa patties look amazing. Bookmarking these to try, I love anything quinoa!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photography and food looks very delicious! I would like to make this dish for me and friend.
ReplyDeleteVisiting you always relaxes me. Thank you for that. I have a bag of quinoa in the pantry but haven't touched it or even tried the stuff yet. I'm a texture freak and anything tiny like that just doesn't have a pleasant mouth feel for me.
ReplyDeleteThese cakes, however, they look amazing. I have a sudden inspiration for a benedict with that little patty as the base. Thank you for sharing your find.
Lovely photos and the quinoa patties look and sound terrific.
ReplyDeleteI love quinoa patties. They look perfect with that egg!
ReplyDeleteI love the runny egg on top! I just pick up a dozen fresh eggs from the farmers market and you've inspired dinner tonight!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea, love the recipe. Perfect for a light summer meal!
ReplyDeleteThese patties make me ache for summery weather my friend :D
ReplyDeleteThey are light, tasty and beautiful as always!
Cheers
